The Unfamiliar Family Dinner

Numerous studies have found that those who regularly eat dinner with their families are healthier, happier, have better social skills and engage in fewer risky behaviors than those present at family dinner.

Not only have we also found that teenagers have benefited from this, but people of all ages. Nutritional and developmental benefits resulted from regular family dinners, regardless of age. Children are 5x less likely to develop weight problems, along with adults who are less likely to consume fried foods and soda. Those who eat with their families are also less likely to be involved in high-risk behavior, such as drug use. There is certainly no harm on chowing down on steak with mom and dad.

Due to extended work hours, and mother's working full-time jobs. It can be nearly impossible to eat dinner regularly, let alone with everyone in the household. The bad news is, it is far unlikely that this will change. The good news is, studies have proved that "family time" is just as effective as family dinner together. Whether it's a trip for ice cream, a movie, or weekend brunch, anytime is just as good as dinner time.
