Domestic violence is something most of us don't talk about, or even think about. What you don't see still exists, and could potentially impact your life. The statistics may suprise you, and the fact is that you or someone you know is VERY likely to be part of them.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.
One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
73% of domestic violence is not reported.
85% of domestic violence victims are women.
Ways you can help:
- Call the police if you see or hear evidence of domestic violence. www.thehotline.org can also provide support.
- Support a friend or family member who may be in an abusive relationship.
- Raise children to respect others. Teach children to treat others as they would like to be treated.
- Lead by example. Work to create a culture that rejects violence as a way to deal with problems. Speak up against messages that say violence or mistreating women is okay.
- Volunteer or Become an activist. Participate in an anti-violence event or prevention program.
- Volunteer in youth programs.
